The Inishowen Harp Ensemble pays homage to Inishowen's rich harp music heritage
Some of Inishowen’s finest traditional musicians are taking part in a special event in Malin next month.
An Evening of Music by Candlelight is taking place at the historic Malin Village Hall on Sunday, May 5.
The event by Go Visit Inishowen, will see the Inishowen Trad Choir, The Inishowen Harp Ensemble and Trádán joined by Irish-Indian group IndeCeltic.
The Inishowen Trad Choir is an exciting choir managed by Inishowen Traditional Singers Circle and it's musical director is well-known Inishowen musician Lorna McLaughlin. The choir works mainly with archive material, which has been arranged by contemporary composers to honour and preserve the unique stories and melodies of the area, and occasionally songs from further afield.
The Inishowen Harp Ensemble comprises of harpists of all ages. The ensemble pays homage to Inishowen's rich harp music heritage, enchanting audiences with their evocative renditions.
Trádán features acclaimed fiddle players Clodagh Warnock, Roisin McGrory, and Joleen McLaughlin who will perform spirited performances of traditional tunes from the North West, including new compositions from local musicians.
Special guests IndeCeltic hail from the foothills of the Himalayas. Anna Tanvir and Maninder Singh draw on their Irish-Indian heritage to offer a unique fusion of traditional melodies and heartfelt compositions.
Additionally, attendees of An Evening of Music by Candlelight will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant local art scene with a special exhibit showcasing the talent and creativity of a number of Inishowen artists at Malin Village Hall, F93 PA47.
