More than 300 people attended the Inishowen Job Fair in Buncrana on Saturday.
The Inishowen Job Fair, which was organised by Inishowen Development Partnership, featured a cross-section of employers from the peninsula who had active vacancies. More than 170 jobs were on offer from the 20 different employers in the room.
A number of the employers all reported to have recruited staff on the day who will be commencing employment with the local firms in the coming days.
Sinead McDaid, enterprise officer with IDP, said they were blown away by the response on Saturday.
“The scores of people through the doors on Saturday shows you the level of commitment in the peninsula for high-quality fulltime employment,” said Sinead.
“There were genuine job seekers who were looking to change their circumstances and we are delighted to report that a number of successful matches were made on the day and many more making connections with potential new employees.”
Employer engagement officer Ana McColgan thanked the 20-plus local businesses who took the time out of their busy schedules to attend the Job Fair and for their support in making it a success.
“We knew from working with the employers that there was a big demand for staff locally but from the very start they got on board with our vision in putting on the Job Fair and we are delighted that Saturday was a successful day for them,” said Ana.
IDP’s employment support team were also busy on the day as people came to them looking for advice with their CVs.
Employment Support Officer with IDP Emily Graham said they had a high influx of participants requiring assistance with CVs and interview skills. They will continue to engage with them through clinics and one-to-one appointments and ultimately support them into employment.
