There is a disturbing scene at the Famine Village on the Isle of Doagh in Inishowen, where a fire ripped through the historic site.
There was a sizable blaze and billowing smoke to be seen at the site, which caused extensive damage this evening at the premises, which is located at Lagacurry, Ballyliffin, and Tony McBride / Online Video Productions' video and photographs show the damage caused.
"Absolutely devastating news from the Isle of Doagh today," Jack Murray, cathaoirleach of the Inishowen Municipal District, posted. "Inishowen has lost a wee bit of our soul if we lose the Famine Village. Thinking of Pat [Doherty] and all his clan who have made that wonderful place such a popular tourist attraction. We're all at a loss"
