Up to 100 pupils representing six schools have taken part in a chess tournament hosted by Scoil Íosagáin in Buncrana.

Pupils from the school were joined for Féíle Fichille by pupils from Gaelscoil Bhun Cranncha; Scoil Cholmcille, Newtowncunningham; St Baithin's NS, Lifford; Saint Egney’s NS, Desertegney and St Patrick's Boys School, Carndonagh.
The aim of Féile Fichille tournaments is to give children the opportunity to represent their school, experience a chess tournament and have fun.
Ruairí McManus acted as arbiter and each of the students played six rounds of chess. Each school group received a certificate of participation to celebrate the promotion of chess in their school.
Ficheall is a non-profit organisation of primary school teachers who give their time and skills on a voluntary basis to support teachers in promoting chess in their school for the social and cognitive benefits it has for students.
