Some participants at the In:Clusion programme
A local community project in Greencastle Community Centre aimed at supporting adults with additional needs has received a welcomed funding boost.
Thanks to a successful grant application through Donegal ETB and ‘Adult Literacy for Life’, the In:Clusion Project will be able to offer a 10-week programme filled with fun and engaging activities with a focus on literacy.
The programme began on Wednesday, September 18. The course is weekly but is fully booked up.
The goal is to help individuals develop new skills, build confidence, and connect with others in a supportive and nurturing environment.
The community centre noticed a lack of support for adults with additional needs, they thought this programme would be good to get people from across the peninsula in a central space. Although this course is about adult literacy, it’s also about getting adults with additional needs out and about and meeting new friends.
“This initiative is part of a wider commitment to enhance the health and social well-being of our community, by providing lovely projects like this in our centre, we hope to create a more inclusive and supportive community,” said Susan McAleer, Centre Manager.
The funding boost has allowed the project to create a truly enjoyable experience for participants. By investing in resources and activities, the project is committed to providing a positive and enriching experience for everyone involved.
If the project is successful the centre plans to keep this programme ongoing.
