Donegal’s weather warning belatedly hits status orange

The warning is in place from Thursday at 7pm until 8am on Friday

Donegal’s weather warning has finally been upgraded to status orange.

Earlier this week, there was a weather warning for 25 countries in the Republic of Ireland, with Donegal the only expectation - despite widespread snow and ice.

Met Éireann has just issued a severe weather warning for low-temperature for Donegal, where it will be extremely cold with widespread severe frost and ice, along with lying snow in some areas.

Impacts include dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and delays, animal welfare issues and poor visibility.

The warning is in place from Thursday at 7pm until 8am on Friday. The other affected areas are Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, Tipperary
