A bright start to 2025 - but hail, sleet, frost and possibly snow forecast tonight

Donegal's 2025 will open with a much brighter, fresher day than recently, with sunny spells and scattered showers, Met Éireann say.

However, some showers may turn to hail or sleet later this evening. The highest temperatures are 4 to 6 degrees in light and moderate west to northwest winds.

Cold tonight with clear spells and scattered showers, some turning to sleet or snow. Lowest temperatures of -2 to 0 degrees in a light northerly breeze, with widespread frost and some ice developing.

Cold and bright tomorrow with sunny spells and just a few light showers, some turning to hail and sleet. Daytime temperatures of just 2 to 4 degrees in a light northerly breeze.
