A pleasant start to the weekend weather is a false dawn for Donegal

While generally sunny early on with just isolated showers, cloud will slowly build later.

Saturday will be dry and pleasant across most areas, although it's a false dawn in regards Donegal's weekend forecast.

While generally sunny early on with just isolated showers; cloud will slowly build later. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds, which will later begin to freshen. There is the continuing possibility of coastal flooding due to very high tides.

Tonight will become very wet and very windy with strong to gale force southeasterly winds developing. Rain in the move up later with some heavy falls expected. There is the continuing possibility of coastal flooding due to very high tides with spot flooding inland. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.

Storm Ashley will affect Ireland on Sunday with the peak winds occurring during the afternoon and evening. Heavy overnight rain will clear northeastwards early on with sunny spells and scattered blustery following. More persistent rain will feed into western areas later with isolated thunderstorms. Strong to gale force southwest winds will bring the potential for some disruption, especially in Atlantic coastal areas, with storm force winds off the west and northwest coast. Coastal flooding is also possible due to very high tides. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees.
