Donegal's weather alert has been upgraded to an orange severe status

Donegal's weather alert for the early hours of Monday morning has been upgraded to an orange severe status warning for rain status.

The warning is in place from midnight tonight, Sunday, into 4am Monday, for Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.

Met Eireann said Donegal can expect "very heavy and thundery rain for a time tonight, with impacts including localised flooding and very difficult travelling conditions."
