Gritters will be out across Donegal from 7pm on Friday

All of Donegal’s designated winter maintenance routes are to be gritted on Friday night after Met Éireann issued a new warning for freezing temperatures leading to hazardous road conditions.

Donegal County Council said all the designated routes across the county will be treated from 7pm on Friday.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for Donegal and 10 other counties which will be in place until 10am on Saturday.

The forecaster is warning of freezing temperatures, widespread frost and icy surfaces, leading to hazardous travelling conditions.

An ice warning for all of Northern Ireland is also to be in place until 10am on Saturday.

Met Éireann says Friday night will be cold and dry with clear spells. Widespread frost and icy stretches will develop, with lowest temperatures of -5 to -2 degrees.
