More than 400 runners and walkers packed the streets of the Bogside on Thursday night for one of the biggest Colm Quigley Jog in the Bog events in its history!
The annual 5K, held in memory of local athlete Colm Quigley, brought together people of all ages for what is one of the most exciting events of Féile 2026.
The children's Superhero Race got the night off to a brilliant start before hundreds of runners and walkers took on the main 5K through the Bogside, Brandywell and Bishop Street.
Registrations for the Jog in the Bog help raise vital funds to support the delivery of community mental health and counselling services.
This year's event also carried an important message, with walkers and runners wearing purple T-shirts to highlight the campaign to end violence against women and girls.
Aisling Hutton from Health for Life said the turnout for this year’s race was ‘absolutely incredible’ and thanked everyone who took part.
"Health for Life are absolutely delighted with this year’s Colm Quigley Jog in the Bog - it was one of the biggest races we have ever had.
"To see more than 400 people out on the streets of the Bogside was absolutely fantastic, along with all the families, friends and residents who came out along the route to cheer them on.
"It is always such a diverse race. You have regular runners, people doing their first ever 5K, families walking together and children getting involved in the Superhero Race. It really brings the whole community together.
"I also want to give a special mention to everyone who took part in our Couch to 5K programme and completed the run last night. It is an incredible achievement, and you should all be immensely proud of your efforts.
"Every penny raised from this year’s event will go towards supporting vital mental health and counselling services, and that support makes a real difference to people across the community who need it most.
"It was also hugely important for us to use this year's event to highlight the campaign to end violence against women and girls. Seeing the sea of purple T-shirts sent out a very strong message.
"We want to thank every single person who took part, all our volunteers and sponsors, those who came out to support along the route, and Apex Housing for getting behind the event."
