Finn Harps will come up against two familiar faces in 2023 with defenders Ethan Boyle and Rob Slevin signing for First Division clubs.
Boyle has signed for his native Wexford FC with Slevin joining Galway United, coming as a double blow for Harps, who have yet to announce a successor to recently-departed manager Ollie Horgan.
Boyle hails from Wexford Town, but it was wit Waterford United that he made his breakthrough in the League of Ireland.
Boyle has had two different spells at Harps having first been snapped up by Horgan for the 2016 Premier Division campaign.
After spending the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Shamrock Rovers and 2020 at Linfield, Boyle returned to Harps for the last two seasons.
Boyle made 118 League appearances for Harps, scoring seven goals. He played a further 11 times in Cup competitions, adding another goal to his tally.
Wexford confirmed his addition on Wednesday evening.
Slevin played 29 times for Harps in the Premier Division this year having been recruited from Cork City.
The 24-year-old has now signed for Galway United. John Caulfield's team missed our on promotion in the First Division play-offs this season. Galway were beaten 3-0 by Waterford FC.
“I’m delighted to join,” Slevin said.
“I’ve watched from afar what John has been doing for the last few years, and I’m delighted to be part of it. It’s a really big club and obviously, going back into full-time after Finn Harps was a big draw for me.”
