Alana Doherty scored her first goal of the season as Sligo Rovers took just their second win this year, defeating Waterford 2-0 at the RSC on Saturday.

The Illies woman hit the net in the 65th minute to make it 2-0 and seal the win against Waterford, who were down to ten from the half-hour mark as Stephanie Dumevi saw red.

Emma Hansberry put Sligo ahead soon after, with Doherty’s goal ensuring Sligo moved off the bottom of the Women's Premier Division table.

Now on eight points, they leapfrog Cork City, who have seven points, while Waterford sit on nine.
