Late comeback denies Carndonagh Community School a place in FAI National Cup final

Carndonagh Community School team that lost in Dundalk in the national cup semi-final

Carndonagh Community School suffered a 2-1 defeat against Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny, in the FAI Schools U17 Junior Girls National Cup Semi-Final for Large Schools in Dundalk on Thursday afternoon.

The Inishowen side took the lead after 18 minutes when Orla Ward capitalised on a well-timed through-ball from Maeve Doherty, slotting home to put her team ahead at the break.

However, Kilkenny turned the game around in the second half, with goals from Olivia Dunphy and Meadhbh Doherty sealing victory and bringing Carndonagh’s cup journey to a disappointing end at the semi-final stage.
