Bruce Strachan has joined Finn Harps from Ayr United

Finn Harps’ newest addition Bruce Strachan is keen to hit the ground running when he makes his debut against fellow play-off hopefuls Bray Wanderers on Friday night.

The 18-year-old has joined from Scottish outfit Ayr United and is also a former Rangers FC academy graduate.

Speaking after coming on board with Darren Murphy’s outfit, he said: “It’s been a great few days - the boys have been brilliant with me.

“I came in for a trial last week, got through the sessions pretty well so very happy now to be here”.

In regards to what Finn Park can expect at the weekend, the player says he likes to get forward and get on the scoresheet.

“I just try to get on the ball as much as I can, move it quickly and help the team as much as I can. I try to work as hard as I possibly can and I’ve got a goal in me as well.

“Last season I scored a few, I was on penalties so that helped. I like to make late runs into the box and I like to take shots away when the chances are there”.

Bray currently sit in fourth spot - a single point ahead of fifth-placed Harps. So there is scope for movement in the First Division standings on Friday night if Harps can get the win. And that’s what Strachan is aiming for.

“Definitely, and I’ve heard the fans really get behind the lads here so looking forward to Friday night now and getting out there in front of them”.

On his new signing, boss Murphy explained: “Bruce has been in with the group since last week and has been very impressive.

"He is eager to test himself at this level and gives me and my coaching staff more options in that area of the pitch.

"We want young, hungry players and Bruce definitely fits that bill. I’m excited to work with him over the coming weeks.”
