The FAI have confirmed that the FAI Junior Cup final between Cockhill Celtic and Gorey Rangers will take place in Eamon Deacy Park, Galway on Sunday, May 5, with a 2pm kick-off.

Gavin Cullen's side reached the showpiece courtesy of a 1-0 victory at Limerick's Pike Rovers in the semi-final. They will be looking to go one better than last season, when they lost a penalty shoot-out in the final of the FAI Intermediate Cup, following a 1-1 draw after extra-time against Rockmount from Cork in Sligo.

The fall of the Ulster Senior League meant a return to the Inishowen Junior Football League for Cockhill, where they need just a point from their final two outings to win the title. They face Greencaste tomorrow, Sunday, away from home.

No Donegal club side has won the  FAI Junior Cup since Finn Harps in 1968, the year before they joined the League of Ireland. Swilly Rovers were victors in the 1967 competition.

Gorey Rangers from Wexford held their nerve in a penalty shoot-out 4-1 against Villa FC to reach the FAI Junior Cup final for the first time in the club’s history, following a 1-1 draw.
