Kerry Brown has signed for Athlone Town, the 2023 Women’s FAI Cup winners.

The 20-year-old Greencatsle woman has transferred to the Midlanders from Sion Swifts.

Brown amassed over 70 appearances across two spells at Sion with a stint at Derry City in between.

“It’s great to have Kerry join our team, and she is exactly the type of player and person I want at our club,” Athlone Town manager Ciaran Kilduff said.

“She is an exciting prospect for Irish football and I’m looking forward to getting to work with her and the squad in the coming weeks.”

Athlone clinched the Women’s FAI Cup in November after defeating Shelbourne on penalties at Tallaght Stadium.

Brown moves from Sion, who finished fourth in the Women’s Premiership in 2023. In the League Cup final at Stangmore Park, Brown scored the Sion goal in a 3-1 defeat to Cliftonville.

Brown is a Republic of Ireland underage international.
