Buncrana teenager Luke O’Donnell made his Derry City debut on Friday night.
The 16-year-old came on as a late substitute in a 3-0 win over St Patrick’s Athletic that secured a second-place finish for the Candystripes.
O’Donnell was sent in as a replacement for Patrick McEleney with City already firmly on their way to three points at the Brandywell.
Brandon Kavanagh, Will Patching and Jordan McEneff scored the goals for Ruaidhri Higgins’ side.
Former Cockhill Celtic schoolboy O’Donnell recently featured for the Republic of Ireland Under-17s as they reached the Elite qualifying rounds for the UEFA European Championships.
The midfielder started the 4-0 win over Armenia and came off the bench in the 0-0 draws with Iceland and Switzerland.
Ramelton man Ronan Boyce played the 90 minutes for Derry in Friday’s win.
