Mark Coyle stuck on Saturday night to give Shelbourne a victory over Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.

Coyle grabbed the winner for Damien Duff’s Shels, who left the Yeats County with a 1-0 win.

Five minutes before the break, Coyle’s shot slipped past Conor Walsh, the Sligo goalkeeper. Coyle’s effort went through the legs of the young Sligo net-minder.

It was a first goal of the season for Coyle, the Burt man’s strike lifting Shels to fifth.

Coyle joined Shelbourne for the 2022 season having been Finn Harps’ Player of the Year in 2021.
