Ciaran Coll headed in a late equaliser to maintain Derry City's unbeaten start to the League of Ireland Premier Division campaign.

The Candystripes looked like they might have been heading for a first defeat of 2023 as Max Mata's goal had Sligo Rovers in front.

However, ten minutes from the end, Coll rose to head in from a Ben Doherty corner.

It's only a second goal in the Candystripes for the St Johnston man, who has made 102 appearances since signing from Finn Harps at the end of the 2018 season.

Derry attacker Jamie McGonigle hit the net on ten minutes, but referee Adriano Reale disallowed the effort, pulling the play back for a foul, leaving Derry livid.

On the weekend of the sixth anniversary of his death, the ground now named in his honour rose in honour of former Derry City captain Ryan McBride in the sixth minute.

Mata headed home on 24 minutes after connecting with a Reece Hutchinson cross.

That was how it remained until Coll intervened for a precious equaliser.
