Odds on next permanent Manchester United manager with two surprise Irish contenders on the list

Following a controversial 2-1 loss away at West Ham on Sunday, under fire Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has been sacked by Ineos led United.

With Man United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy taking charge of the Red Devils on an interim basis, the question remains of who will be the next permanent boss with 2 surprise Irish contenders on the shortlist.

Although they may not be the highest odds favourites to revive Man United, both Kieran McKenna and Roy Keane have appeared on bookmakers lists for the job.

Man United legend and Cork man, Roy Keane is on the list at a huge 175/1 it doesn't look like the no nonsense midfielder will be leading the lads at Old Trafford anytime soon.

His last managerial job was back in 2011 at Ipswich Town. Sticking with Ipswich Town is the other Irishman on the list. Kieran McKenna played a blinder in seeing The Tractor Boys make a sensational return to the Premiere League on a shoestring budget. McKenna, who is from Fermanagh, has only recently signed a 4 year deal at Ipswich in 2024, which probably explains the 25/1 price of him making a return to Manchester United after being assistant manager to Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Ralf Ragnick before taking the Ipswich job.

There is host of other former Manchester United players in the bookmakers lists with Wanye Rooney, Gary Neville and even Tom Cleverly featuring.

With news coming out of Manchester United's contact with current Sporting manager, Ruben Amorim, he looks most likely to be the next Man United topping the list as a 1/11 favourite for the job.

Beating out the likes of former Barcelona man Xavi, and former England manager Gareth Southgate as well.
