Buncrana teenager Liam Grant is set to represent Team Ireland at the ISKA World Championships, taking place from 23 to 27 October in Vienna, Austria.

The 15-year-old Grant, who trains at Strike Martial Arts Academy in Derry, is determined to make his mark on the global stage.

"It’s going to be a tough championship for teams all over the world,” Grant said. “I’m going to give it my all and hope I can bring a world title back home to Buncrana."

As he prepares for this prestigious event, Grant took time to reflect on the tremendous support he’s received throughout his kickboxing journey, which began when he was just six years old.

“I want to thank everyone who has helped me over the years, from starting kickboxing at six to heading to a world championship at 15. The generosity of my family, friends, and community is amazing,” he said.

Grant also expressed his appreciation for the support from his Strike team, his coach Pinta, and his sponsors. He gave a special mention to Jonny Morrison PT for his strength and conditioning training, CS Injury Clinic and Remedial Massage for their treatments, and E17 Sportswear and The Rabbit Hole for supplying his sports gear.

With the encouragement of his local community and the preparation behind him, Grant is ready to take on the challenge ahead in Vienna.
