Clonmany boxer Conan Kearney gained priceless experience in the United States over the last week.
Kearney was part of an Irish squad that competed in tournaments in Cincinnati and Detroit as part of the Bridges Beyond Boxing programme.
The St Bridget's, Clonmany puncher was a member of the Team Bridges Ireland panel and had one win and one defeat Stateside.
On Wednesday night, Kearney suffered a controversial split decision defeat to Michael Higgins Jr in Cincinnati. Higgins Jr got the nod on a 3-2 split decision and Team Bridges Ireland suffered a narrow 5-4 loss at Montgomery Boat House.
On Friday night, Kearney – who was the Irish Boy 2 56kgs champion in 2021 – defeated Christian Geck in Detroit. Kearney had his hand raised after claiming a unanimous decision win at Eastern Market.
Established in 2016, Bridges Beyond Boxing Ireland is a cross-community boxing exchange programme.
