The Bridges Beyond Boxing team team before they made their trip to the United States
Clonmany boxer Conan Kearney is one of several boxers who are a part of the Bridges Beyond Boxing team that have made their way to the USA this week for events in Cincinnati and Detroit.
Established in 2016, Bridges Beyond Boxing organises, recruits, trains, and delivers events on both sides of the Atlantic, allowing young people to travel, compete and experience cultural exchange.
The association enables young people to journey across the Atlantic to unleash their passion for competition while discovering life-changing sporting and cultural experiences, creating brighter futures and communities.
Last Spring the Irish team made up of fighters from Northern Ireland and south of the border, travelled to an event against a fighter from Boston, with organiser and Donegal native Mark Porter acknowledging the positive impact of bringing people from different communities together and uniting them.
“It reminds these kids that there’s not much difference between them. And when they’re here, they are a united team against America,” Porter said back in April.
