Kevin Gallagher and Ryan Moore in action
Kevin Gallagher is aiming to up the ante the second time around Knockalla and Carrygort on Saturday afternoon as he leads in the two-wheel drive, two seconds quicker than Declan Gallagher.
The Rathmullan man with Ryan Moore on pace notes currently has the upper hand in his Darrian T90 GTR, over the Toyota Starlet of Ardara’s Declan Gallagher 10.5 seconds.
However, a slight spin at the church in Knockalla resulted in him losing a small bit of time, but he is focused to learn from it and kick on the second time around. “
“Yeah, look that happens, we had a spin at the church, but other than that we’re happy with the performance so far,” he said.
“All we have to do is try and keep it nice and steady now, and hopefully that will keep us in the lead.”
“Being from the north Donegal area, Gallagher knows these roads on Day 2 better than most, and admitted before the event that going past his home area was something he was looking forward to.
“Apart from the spin, we had a good run, that set us back a bit which was disappointing, but we move on and will now aim for a good run again.
“When I spun the car, I had to push around a few bails which wasn’t ideal, I broke a few things on the bail but it’s nothing major.”
As they jet off around north Donegal again for the second time of the day, Gallagher knows the stiff competition coming up behind him.
“Yeah, Declan Gallagher isn’t far behind so we need to keep the hammer down, the conditions are good, apart from a few areas where there are trees, the ground can be greasy, but other than that, it’s going okay.”
