Inishowen Rugby Club well represented across exciting weekend of action

The Inishowen boys U-14 side.

The Inishowen U-14 boys hosted Donegal Town at home Saturday and the home side got off to a great start when Lewis Pienaar scored the first try of the game.

Donegal Town soon levelled and continued to apply pressure and capitalise on our mistakes increasing their lead.

Inishowen managed to cross the line again with scores from Inishowen's Cameron Mc Laughlin, Aaron Whelan and  Stephen Miller with Josh Walsh converting three tries.

Significant improvements were seen from Inishowen's performance. Thanks to Donegal Town RFC  for a sporting game. Final score 24-54.

Later in the afternoon, the Inishowen U-18s played Donegal Town at Moss Road on Saturday. The boys started strong in the first half leading with two unconverted tries and the half-time score was 10-0.

Donegal rallied in the second half to score early on with their first try. Inishowen answered with their third try converted. Donegal responded with a second and final try.

Inishowen continued to show great form and held the lead to secure the win. Final score: 17-10. Thanks to Donegal Town RFC for making the trip up. The Inishowen tries were scored by: Ronan Mc Laughlin,

Danny Diver, Ronan Mc Laughlin (Converted by Danny Diver).

Elsewhere, the U-14s girls, combined with Letterkenny RFC/Finn Valley RFC, hosted Enniskillen at The Finn Valley Centre.

The U-18 girls team

Inishowen RFC were represented by Ciara Keogh in full back, Mia Doherty in centre, Sarah McNally and Michaela McCloskey on the wing. Well done to all the players on an impressive win.

The U-16s played at home on a cold, wet and heavy pitch. They battled hard but lost out to the strong travelling team from Clogher Valley/Cavan/Monaghan rugby clubs. We were delighted to see new Inishowen players take to the field and show their rugby skills.

The U-18s girls, combined with Inishowen/COD/Limavady took on Virginia RFC of Cavan at Judges Raod on Sunday.

We got off to a great start when the kick-off was caught and we made a clean run in under the posts.

The home side were more aggressive in the tackles and the rucking and it wasn't long before we produced another try. Virginia carried hard into contact but couldn't break our defense down.

Two more tries were run in before the halfway mark from the home side. The second half was barely two minutes old when Inishowen/COD/Limavady broke through the midfield again for our fifth try of the game.

The opposition knew they were in for a long day when after some slick backs play inside our 22 saw us break up the field again for another try.

Two more tries followed before the final whistle concluding a well-deserved victory for the combined team.  Tries were scored by: Erin Mc Conalogue (Inishowen), Rebecca Mason (Limavady), conversions by Elise Mc Dermott (Limavady).
