Buncrana and St Mary's Convoy secure historic victories in Ulster Club League

Buncrana has qualified for their first-ever Ulster League Final beating St Oliver Plunket's Greenlough on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-4 points in poor conditions at home at the weekend in the Ulster Intermediate semi-final.

The visitors, playing with a strong wind were first to settle and took an early lead. John Campbell equalised before the same player got on the end of a Dylan Mullholland effort to rattle the net.

Scores were traded to the end of the half which saw the home side go in with a 1-2 to 0-4 lead.

Buncrana seized the initiative early in the second half and pulled away from their Derry opponents thanks to scores from Campbell, Seán McLaughlin, and a super closing score from Mullholland.

A big feature was the home side's defending in keeping their opponents scoreless in the second half which included an excellent Adam Harrigan save.

Gary Duffy and his squad can now look forward to their very first Ulster League Final against Monaghan's Magheracloone on Sunday March 24 at 12pm.

This victory goes alongside St Mary's Convoy who qualified for the Ulster Junior League Final after they overcame Brocagh of Tyrone on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-1.

For Gaoth Dobhair, they will have little time to rest after they opened their Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta campaign with a big win over Ghleann Fhinne as they prepare to take on Donaghmore St Patrick's tomorrow in Garvaghey in the Ulster Senior Club playoff.

Their Ulster campaign was pushed back due to their participation in the Gaeltacht competition and will now tog out tomorrow with throw-in at 7.45.
