A man has been arrested after a member of An Garda Siochana was injured after he was struck by an electric motorbike in Dublin.
Gardai say the member who was on duty was hospitalised following the incident in Blanchardstown, Dublin on Thursday night.
"While on proactive patrol to disrupt the sale and supply of controlled drugs, gardaí observed a man driving a Surron-type electric motorcycle on a green area in Blakestown, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, at approximately 9pm," said a spokesperson.
According to gardai, the man, whose face was covered, was driving the motorcycle on the green area and on footpaths putting members of the public at risk.
"When a garda member who was on foot approached the motorcyclist as he was travelling at speed along the footpath he drove off and in the course of doing so struck the garda," said the spokesperson

The garda, a male aged in his 20s, was brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown to be treated for non life-threatening injuries sustained during the incident.
The motorcyclist, aged in his 30s, was also taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
This man has since been arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a farda station in Dublin.
The electronic motorcycle has been seized and investigations are ongoing.
Welfare supports have been made available to the injured garda by local management.
