A man in his 20s was charged with the murder of his mother and assault causing harm to his father on Wednesday afternoon at the District Court in Cork.
25-year-old David Gallagher, of Shrewsbury Downs, Ballinlough, cork, was remanded in custody on Wednesday afternoon.

59-year-old Stella Gallagher, sustained fatal injuries after she was stabbed while trying to escape her family home on Monday night. She was subsequently taken to Cork University hospital following the attack by her son but sadly died.
Her husband, 62-year-old Brian Gallagher, was also stabbed and seriously injured.
David Gallagher is due before the courts again next Thursday.

In a statement, Gardaí said,
"Gardaí investigating the fatal incident in Ballinlough on Monday night 17th November 2025 have charged the male in his 20s that was arrested at scene."
