An elderly cyclist has died following an early-morning hit-and-run in Meath.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses amid the fatal road traffic collision, which occurred at Batterstown, Ballivor in the county on Friday morning, September 12.
Shortly after 9.59am, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision on the R156. This incident involved a cyclist and a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene.
The male cyclist, aged in his 80s, was discovered unresponsive and removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area of Batterstown, Ballivor between 9:30am and 10am on Friday, September 12, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
The authorities are particularly interested in the movements of heavy goods vehicles (rigid or articulated trucks) in the area at the time.
