Sharlene Mawdsley will be setting her sights on impressing at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles
Shannon Airport has announced an exciting new partnership with Irish Olympian and European medallist Sharlene Mawdsley
The Tipperary native has become a household name over the past few years with her record-breaking performances on the track. She was part of the team that won European gold and silver in the 4x400m mixed and women's relay teams last year.
Sharlene's ambassadorial appointment, which will run for three years, aligns with Shannon Airport's continued support for Irish sporting talent on the global stage as she sets her sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Shannon Airport is frequently described as Ireland's favourite airport, holding the top spot in brand recognition and customer experience for three consecutive years as of July 2025 according to the Red C Brand reaction index.

Speaking at the official announcement, Vanessa McTigue, Commercial Director of the Shannon Airport group said: "Sharlene is a wonderful ambassador for our region and we're proud to officially name her as an ambassador of Shannon Airport."
McTigue also spoke on what made Mawdsley the perfect candidate for the role stating: "Her energy, ambition and community spirit reflects so much of what Shannon Airport stands for, as well as speed, connection and recognition on the global stage."
McTigue also shared their delight in securing Mawdsley in what's sure to be an exciting few years ahead for the athlete saying: "We're delighted to have her represent us for the next three years, during what promises to be a exhilarating lead up to the 2028 Olympics."
Sharlene Mawdsley also spoke of her excitement on the new partnership adding: "Shannon Airport has always been part of my journey. From some of my earliest competitions to now - travelling regularly between London and my home in Newport, County Tipperary. It has always made it so easy for me to get where I'm going!"
The Olympian continued: "For me to be an ambassador of Shannon Airport is incredibly special. Whether it's on the track or the runway, its all about teamwork, being ambitious and doing our best for the region."
