Met Éireann's forecast warns of potential 'spot flooding'

Met Éireann weather forecast predicts chance of 'spot flooding' and chance of snow amid temperature drops and heavy rain.

It will be a cold night Monday February 10 'with frost and a few icy patches where skies clear. Patchy rain and drizzle will persist, with some wintry falls possible, especially above high ground."

"Rain and drizzle will become largely confined to eastern and southern areas overnight. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees in a mostly light northeasterly breeze," according to Met Éireann.

On Tuesday February 11, there will be some bright or sunny spells at first with any frost and ice clearing.

However, it will be mostly cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle, especially across east and southeast counties with just minimal amounts elsewhere, according to Met Éireann.

Later in the day, rain will arrive into southwestern counties, perhaps turning wintry for a time over higher ground here after dark. Rather cold with highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees in a light to moderate easterly breeze, Met Éireann predicts.

On Wednesday February 12, it will be cold, dull and breezy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, some wintry falls locally.

Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in a fresh southeast breeze, coldest away from southwest counties.

It will be a cold night on Wednesday night with further scattered falls of rain and drizzle, driest across eastern areas. However, extensive cloud cover should diminish the potential of a significant frost. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees in a moderate southeast breeze, according to Met Éireann.

On Thursday February 13, it will be cold and breezy with persistent rain across southwest areas, very gradually extending northeastwards through the day, with the chance of some embedded wintry falls later.

Much of Ulster will however stay dry for daylight hours. Highest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees, in a brisk southeast winds; coldest conditions away from Munster. Cold, wet and breezy weather will continue into the overnight hours, according to Met Éireann.

On Friday, it will be cold, wet and breezy weather, with the potential for spot flooding across southern and eastern areas. However, some sunny spells may break through across west and southwest counties. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees generally but milder across Munster with highs of 7 to 11 degrees. Brisk southeast winds will persist, according to Met Éireann.
