Man arrested and charged over major fire in Longford town

Man to appear at special court sitting charged in connection with Longford town fire

A man has appeared in court in connection with the investigation of the fire at a premises in Longford town.

The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on Thursday, August 8, over a fire that broke out in Longford town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning, July 28 this year. 

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at Grafton Court in the town shortly before 1.30am.

The fire was brought under control and no injuries were reported.

The man appeared before a special sitting of Longford District Court this evening Friday, August 9 at 5.45pm.

Investigations are ongoing.
