Man found dead after residential fire in Co Mayo

A man has died in a residential fire in Co Mayo.

Gardai were alerted to the fire in Ballina at approximately 8.15am on Thursday.

The man was found dead inside the property.

A second man has been transported to University Hospital Mayo with injuries.

Fire services extinguished the fire and made the area safe.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.

The body of the deceased remained at the scene at noon on Thursday.

Gardai said inquiries are ongoing.
