An animal charity is warning followers not to give donations to a fraudster posing as a charity representative.
The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) has issued a warning to members of the public after the bogus collector was reported in the Whitehall, Dublin area recently.
The man was reported to be collecting funds on behalf of the ISPCA in the area in recent days.
The ISPCA is reminding the public that they should never hand over money to collectors without requesting ID and a permit, to be vigilant and report suspicious callers if they have concerns about their authenticity to the Gardaí or the ISPCA fundraising team.
The fundraising team can be contacted on 1800 911 190 or by emailing fundraising@ispca.ie.
Anyone wishing to support the ISPCA can make a secure donation online by visiting the ISPCA’s website on www.ispca.ie/donate
