Micheál Martin wishes Cillian Murphy 'best luck' ahead of Oscars ceremony

Micheál Martin has wished Cillian Murphy the best of luck ahead of the Oscars' ceremony.

The Tánaiste struck a pose with a poster of the Cork actor in front of his former school.

"Wishing Cillian Murphy the very best of luck at the Oscars tonight. His performance in Oppenheimer was absolutely outstanding," Mr Martin said.

"The entire country is very appreciative of your work and your contribution to the world of film."

The 96th ceremony of The Oscars will take place in a couple of hours, Cillian Murphy is expected to be the favourite for Best Actor. 

The ceremony will kick off at 4pm California time, which means it will start at 11pm Irish time.

This year, Ireland will be greatly represented as Cillian Murphy is expected to win Best Actor for his performance in Oppenheimer. 

 Cillian is up against Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti and Jeffrey Wright.
