Storm Isha victim Jimmy Rowe laid to rest on his birthday

Storm Isha crash victim Jimmy Rowe has been laid to rest on his birthday.

Jimmy of No. 10 Slí Na Móna, Ballymahon, Longford and Tuam, Co Galway, died after his car veered off the road during powerful winds on Sunday.

The Longford native lived with his partner in Kilcloghans, outside Tuam, where he had been working for a number of years.

He was laid to rest on Friday morning after Funeral Mass in St. Matthew's Church, Ballymahon. Burial took place afterwards in Shrule Cemetery.

Jimmy's partner Bernie told the funeral congregation she was blessed to have Jimmy as a loving partner.

"Although our time was short, we have lots of memories that I will forever cherish. Happy birthday Jimmy," she said.

Jimmy’s brother Albie listed the gifts that were left at the altar in memory of him.

These included his plasterer’s trowel, his guitar, tea bags, and a family photo.

Following the tragic news of his death, tributes poured in for Jimmy, who has been described as a “lovely fella” with the biggest heart.

Albie wrote: “Folks, with a heavy heart I bring you the heartbreaking news that our baby brother Jimmy Rowe has lost his life on the roads today. Give your loved ones a hug you never know when it's the last.. love u forever Jimmy".
