A ROAD has been prompted to close after heavy rain caused a mudslide leaving the route impassable.

The mudslide is reported to have occurred on a local Kerry road near Castleisland.

The closure has occured on the L6519 between Glanageenty car park and Broughane Cross near Captain Monteith Memorial, and is said to remain closed until further notice until full assessment is completed.

Local authorities are advising residents and travelers to use alternative routes and exercise caution in the vicinity of the affected area.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels for updates on the situation.
