12 pallets of smuggled cigarettes worth millions seized at Dublin Port

Revenue officers seized over 3.6 million smuggled cigarettes at Dublin Port on Thursday.

The smuggled cigarettes, branded ‘Lambert and Butler’ and ‘Rothmans’, have an estimated retail value of €2,866,750, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €2,244,400.

The discovery was made upon the inspection of twelve pallets which had arrived from the Netherlands and originated from Latvia.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in the shadow economy.
