128kph/h in a 100kph zone
Buncrana Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle yesterday evening in the Newtowncunningham area as it had been observed travelling in excess of the 100kph speed limit.
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued to the driver which will carry a fine of €80 and 3 penalty points.
Gardaí are appealing to road drivers to drive with caution as the yellow weather warning is due to come into affect later this afternoon:"Please drive with care if out and about on the roads. Drive slowly and ensure that you are in a position to stop suddenly and safely when necessary. Watch out for fallen trees and/or debris on the road and as always, be on the lookout for pedestrians and cyclists."
