A fatal car crash on Valentines Day has killed a man in his 40's.

Gardaí are now appealing to the public to come forward with any information or footage they may have, as a man has since been pronounced dead following the accident.

The fatal two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and an SUV, occurred on the R401 at Coolygagen, Co Offaly, on Wednesday, February 14 at approximately 8.50am.

A male passenger in the car, aged in his 40’s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment for serious injuries.

He has since been pronounced deceased.

The female driver of the SUV, aged in her 40’s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment for serious injuries, believed to be non-life-threatening at the time.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
 
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R401 in the Coolygagen area, between 8am and 9am on Wednesday 14th February 2024, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
