A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving in Donegal, having failed a roadside breath test.

A garda spokesperson said: "Buncrana Roads Policing Unit arrested a driver on suspicion of drug driving.

"Gardaí detected a strong smell of cannabis from a car and they then conducted a roadside drug test with the driver.

"Following a failed test, the driver was then found to be in possession of a small quantity of cannabis.

"A blood specimen was collected back at the Garda Station. This specimen will now be sent to the MBRS for analysis."

The detection took place on Tuesday.
