The late Vivienne Lynch McDaid with husband Eamon and daughter Chloe
Tributes have been paid to Buncrana woman Vivienne Lynch McDaid, who lost her brave fight with cancer in Boston.
In 2021, Vivienne went to Boston, where she underwent surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) to remove a tumour from her liver.
An incredible $200,669 was raised through a massive fundraising drive.
After her arrival in Boston last August, Vivienne was seen by Dr. Bruce Giantonio, a medical oncology specialist at MGH with 34 years of experience in the medical field.
Vivienne was still in Ireland and began to feel unwell when several tests resulted in the dreaded news.
After a brave battle, Vivienne passed away in Boston and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 14 in St. John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10am.
The Irish Pastoral Centre sent their 'deepest sympathies' to Vivienne's family and friends.
Vivienne's daughter Chloe is a former Irish champion with the Illies Golden Gloves Boxing Club.
IGG said: “We at the club are greatly saddened at the passing of one of our boxing mammies Vivienne McDaid.
Recalling 'a kind and helpful person who always helped out at club events', they added: “Vivienne fought her illness with determination and dignity.
“Our sincere condolences to her husband Eamon, son Damien and daughter Chloe and all the family at this sad time. Vivienne your memory will always live on.”
Buncrana Hearts FC also paid tribute, saying they were 'deeply saddened' to learn of Vivienne's passing
