The ‘Long March for Gaza’ from Malin Head to Buncrana is set to take place.

The march is taking place on Saturday, September 13 and is divided into five stages. The march is twenty five miles long, as that is the length of the Gaza Strip, although there are 52x more people in Gaza. Inishowen is home to approximately 40,544 people, while 2.1 million people live in Gaza.

The first stage starts at Banba's Crown to Knockamany Bens 7.30-9.30am. Stage two is from Knockamany Bens to Malin town, with the arrival approximately at 12pm. On to stage three, it stretches from Malin to Carndonagh, arrival at around 1:30pm and then a half-hour lunch.

Stage four is from Carndonagh to the North Pole, arriving at 5pm. Then, the fifth and final stage consists of journeying from the North Pole to Buncrana, finishing in Swan Park around 7:30pm.

The event has been organised by Inishowen IPSC, who stated that participants are welcome to do the whole march or to join at any stage. People not marching are also welcome to meet at the Cockhill Bridge for the final part into Buncrana.

A fundraiser has been set up - Long March for Gaza: Malin Head to Buncrana.

"With the horrors that Gaza is currently facing, it is more important than ever to have as many people as possible raising their voices against this,” Inishowen IPSC said. “Inishowen is a stark comparison to Gaza, the same length and more than twice the breadth. Yet in Gaza, 2.1 million are crammed into cities of tents and rubble.

“Join us on this March to honour the dead, to fight for the living, to demand our government do better, and to send your solidarity to the people of Gaza.”
