Social media did its thing to help locate a Donegal All-Ireland final best wishes sign from a national school.

The sign from Saint Aengus National School in Bridgend, featuring teacher and forward Oisin Gallen, went missing in the wake of Donegal's defeat to Kerry in the All-Ireland SFC, with Buncrana-based councillor Jack Murray leading the appeals for its whereabouts.

"If anyone knows who removed this sign from the Bridgend roundabout, could you please let me or Geraldine McDermott know," Cllr Murray posted. "It cost a considerable amount of money to the Saint Aengus National School and will hopefully be used frequently in years to come."

However, there was an update from Cllr Murray on Saturday afternoon to say the sign had been located and will now make its way back to Bridgend.

"Good news folks - social media has done it again," he posted. "The sign has been tracked down and will be back in Bridgend today. Thanks to everyone who shared the post and reached out. It travelled quite a distance but Geraldine McDermott will have it back again soon. Now let's pool all those positive thoughts and make sure we'll be seeing that sign again and again for years to come. Up Donegal."
