The show takes place in Stranorlar on Saturday, July 5

Dog lovers from across the north-west are expected to gather in Stranorlar on Saturday, July 5 for the much-anticipated Finn Valley Dog Show.

Organised in association with Twin Towns Lost & Found Dogs, the event promises a fun-filled day for both participants and spectators, with all proceeds going to support the important work of reuniting lost pets with their families.

The event will take place in the Finn Valley Pet Shop car park, with registration opening at 1pm and the show officially beginning at 2pm.

A variety of categories ensures there’s something for every dog and handler. The competition includes terrier and small dog, medium and large dog, young handlers, puppies under 12 months, waggiest tail, best trick, and a special category for rescue dogs and senior dogs aged eight and over. The highlight of the event will be the crowning of the coveted Best in Show winner.

Entry is priced at €5 per category, and organisers have outlined a few simple rules to ensure the smooth running of the show. Owners are reminded to carry poop scoop bags and to ensure that any dogs on the dangerous dog list are muzzled, except when in the ring. Aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated, and the organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or ask participants to leave if necessary.

The Finn Valley Dog Show not only provides a platform to celebrate the unique talents and charm of the area’s canine companions but also raises vital funds to continue the work of Twin Towns Lost & Found Dogs, who play a crucial role in helping lost dogs find their way home. With the promise of plenty of wagging tails, impressive tricks, and heartwarming stories, the event is set to be a highlight of the local calendar.

Organisers would like to invite all to the show, whether you bring your dog or not. Even if you are just interested in dogs, come along and see all the different breeds. Don't forget this is a fun day for a very good cause. All proceeds go to Twin Towns Lost & Found Dogs.
