Wild Atlantic Way second most picturesque route
The Wild Atlantic Way has been recognised as the world’s second most ‘Instagrammable’ and picturesque route.
A new study, conducted by Cinch, showed that the Wild Atlantic Way, a route over 2,500km that goes from the Inishowen Peninsula to Kinsale in Cork, had the second most hashtag mentions on Instagram.
The Wild Atlantic Way has a total hashtag count of 1.9 million, mostly driven by the #wildatlanticway hashtag alongside breathtaking scenery. Only Route 66 in the USA is ahead with 2.4 million hashtag counts.
Other routes to make the top 10 were the Great Ocean Road in Australia, the North Coast 500 in Scotland, and the Silk Road in Central Asia.
The journey of the Wild Atlantic Way is the world’s longest defined coastal route, and usually takes between three and five weeks to complete.
