Relocated Buncrana Post Office to host official opening on Friday morning

Buncrana Post Office moves from Main Street after more than 80 years

The official opening of the new Buncrana Post Office at SuperValu takes place at 9am on Friday 13 June, and an open invitation has been extended to the public to come along.

The post office, which operated under three generations of the McGinley family on Main Street for more than 80 years, commenced services at Kavanagh’s SuperValu on Cockhill Road last Monday, and a few special guests will be on hand on Friday for the official opening.

The ribbon on the new post office will by cut by one of Buncrana’s oldest citizens, 101 year old Bridget Clafferty.

Current postmaster Christian McGinley is pleased with the move: An Post have been up with their merchandising team and it really looks the part with the new counter, very modern and with all the new products.

Everyone is welcome to come along on Friday morning and help us mark the big move.”
