Funeral arrangements confirmed for Milford crash victim Susan Hamilton

The much loved mother-of-four was also a grandmother of 10 and she will be laid to rest following Requiem Mass on Friday morning in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Inch Island

The funeral will take place on Friday

Susan Hamilton, the loving mother and grandmother, who died in a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Milford on Friday evening, will be laid to rest this Friday.

The late Ms Hamilton, who was 74, was pronounced deceased at the scene following a collision between a car and a van on the R245 at Bunlin Bridge, Milford at around 7.30pm on Friday.

Ms Hamilton’s body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination took place.

The funeral of the mother-of-four, who has 10 grandchildren, will take place on Friday morning in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Inch Island at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Ms Hamilton lived in Manorcunningham and is formerly of Inch Island.

Predeceased by her husband Joseph, brother James and her parents James and Jeannie, she is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Mickey), Amanda (Gerard), Rachel (Kevin), Lisa (Stephen) and her grandchildren Kayla, Joseph, Jack, Jessica, Ciara, Leighton, Jamie, Eoghan, Lily and Michael.

She will also be missed by brother John and sisters Margaret and Ruby and a large circle of family and friends.

The male driver of the van, aged in his 50’s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. 

There were no other injuries reported.

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.15pm and 7.45pm on that date are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
