Carrigans Tidy Towns has highlighted the urgent need for a speed ramp at the Station Road after a car collided with a stone wall.

They are pleading for information on the incident, which is not the first of its kind to occur on the stretch of road.

A spokesperson from Carrigans Tidy Towns said that the junction poses a “real danger” to children and families walking on the footpath further along the road.

The latest collision occurred only a few metres away from a carved wood sculpture which residents completed last week.

Carrigans Tidy Towns posted: “From the hype and joy of the fish carving last week to another hole in the stone wall presumably caused by a speeding vehicle not taking the corner at top of Station Road.

“Unfortunately folks we desperately need a ramp at the failed traffic calming (failed because it does not slow traffic enough).”

The spokesperson added: “I really can't hide our disappointment. Either the wall owner or Tidy Towns pay (with people's donations) for this too many times.”
